BRANSON MO NEWS: If there wasn’t enough state history to go around, with the Woodward Elks Rodeo on the horizon, there is yet another opportunity for those who enjoy learning and experiencing the history of the high plains with another must see attraction coming to the area.The historic Journey Stagecoach of West Plains, Missouri will be visiting and honoring the legacy of the Crider, Munson, Champ and Tindell families who homesteaded in the Kibby area in the early 1900s, according to Dennis Crider.Crider is a grandson to John and Ida Crider, who homesteaded in 1900 just east of a little town between Fort Supply and Buffalo known as Kibby.
Crider and his trail bosses Rick “Cowboy” Hamby and Beverly “Arkansas” Hamby will be guiding a driver and a crew on a trip from Missouri to Buffalo with the stagecoach in tow. Once in Oklahoma the 140-year-old Journey Stagecoach will be pulled by four horses to Kibby, Selman and Doby Springs.The crew is calling the trip “Along the Custer Trail,” Crider said. The stagecoach will be in Harper County at the fairgrounds from May 26th through May 30th. The Journey Stagecoach will then be driven two miles south of the old Kibby townsite and will be camping in the out of doors there, Crider said.“Our plans are to camp at the Harper County Fairgrounds in Buffalo, two locations near Kibby, and the Page Sod House. We will stagecoach to Doby Springs, Selman, Kibby and Fort Supply as we crisscross the Fort Dodge to Camp Supply military trail, which opened in 1868,” Crider said. “That trail was led by General Philip Sheridan and Lt.
