Fayetteville gymnast Stacie Harrison is heading back to the Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships.Earlier this month, competing as a South Carolina qualifier, she finished in the Top 8 in the Level 10 all-around competition at the Region 8 meet, a performance that earned her a spot on the regional team at next month’s J.O. Nationals.The Junior Olympics are May 6-7 in Indianapolis.Harrison, a Jack Britt senior, commutes almost daily to Little River, South Carolina, to train at Gymnastics and More.This is the second straight year Harrison will compete at the Junior Olympics. She reached the meet last year after finishing fourth all around at the 2016 Region 8 meet.Harrison’s best event showing at this year’s regional meet, held in Greensboro on April 6-8, came on the uneven bars, where she finished fourth. She finished in the top 8 on the floor exercise and in the top 20 on vault and beam.Harrison will continue her gymnastics career at the collegiate level with Western Michigan, a NCAA Division I program in the Mid-American Conference.Simmons wins at Azalea FestivalYouth boxer Christopher Simmons added the 2017 Azalea Festival belt to his collection of hardware. …
