It’s been more than 35 years, but country musician Johnny Lee is still the original urban cowboy.
The country crooner, who got his start first with the high school band called Johnny Lee and the Roadrunners, and later with Mickey Gilley, will bring his style of what he calls original country to Grove on Friday, Dec. 30.
Lee will perform during an evening show, to kick off the New Year’s festivities at Grand Lake Casino. 
The concert, which starts at 8 p.m., also christens the casino’s new “The Venue,” a complete remodeling of the River Room which includes an expanded bar and dance floor. The event is free. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
For Lee, Friday’s performance in northeast Oklahoma comes as he finishes a year of traveling to more than 100 concerts promoting his music.
The concert will include a mixture of music off of his newest release “You Ain’t Never Been To Texas”, as well as a blend of former number one hits and music from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack.
Because it’s close to the holidays, Lee might even toss in a few holiday songs from his Christmas CD.
