BRANSON MO NEWS: Missouri wide receiver Jalen Knox and kicker Tucker McCann received weekly award honors Monday after Missouri’s 40-37 road win over Purdue on Saturday night.Knox, a true freshman from Mansfield, Texas, was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after a break out performance at Ross-Ade Stadium. Knox caught five passes for 110 yards and touchdown Saturday, including a 59-yard score, his first collegiate touchdown. He is the first Missouri player to receive the honor since Albert Okwuegbunam did last November.
Knox has received playing time in each of the Tigers’ three games this fall and will likely garner more after his explosion at Purdue.”I was ready,” Knox said after the game. “If I had to go in, I was going to to make the most of my opportunities.”

McCann was named one of the Lou Groza Awards Stars of the Week , an award that recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams. It is the first time the junior kicker has received the award.McCann hit four of his five on field goal attempts Saturday — the lone miss came on a 50-yard attempt that was blocked — including a 25-yard game-winner that sailed through the uprights as time expired.Through the first three weeks of the season, McCann is the leading scorer in the SEC.
