Missouri Live TV Program Receives Emmy – A Missouri live TV Special Presentation on Silver Dollar City
BOONVILLE, MO/Sept. 13, 2017 (STL.News) – A Missouri Life TV Special Presentation on Silver Dollar City, produced by KMOS-PBS (Warrensburg), received a Mid-America Chapter Regional Emmy Award for Best Magazine Program September 9 at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Mid-America Emmy Awards (NATAS). KMOS produces Missouri Life episodes for television, and this fall is the third season that KMOS and Missouri Life magazine have teamed up to produce the program. The 30-minute program that received the Emmy tells the story of Silver Dollar City through its people.
“Silver Dollar City is one of my favorite places in the state,” says Danita Allen Wood, Editor-in-Chief of Missouri Life. “My family goes two or three times a year in different seasons, and I knew their people telling the stories of the theme park would be fun.”
“Missouri Life has been a program of the heart for us,” says KMOS General Manager Josh Tomlinson. “Producers Tom Phillips, Roy and Christy Millen, and Eric Boedeker have excelled at telling the stories of Missouri people and places. On-screen host Meredith Hoenes, who worked previously at stations in Columbia and Kansas City, charms viewers.” KMOS’s broadcast area covers about 80% of Missouri geographically, but the program is running on every PBS station in Missouri as well, picked up by the others for its third season.
“Competition for this magazine-format Emmy is heavy,” says Lisa Rau, Director of Publicity for the 1880s theme park in Branson. “In today’s world of digital distraction, telling people’s stories is a way to cut through the clutter, and we’ve long recognized that PBS and Missouri Life do that well.
