The Transportation Security Administration signs, which are being put up at security checkpoints nationwide, inform individuals they’ll need an alternate form of ID, such as a passport, military ID or permanent resident card.Two bills pre-filed in the Missouri legislature would address the matter, although similar efforts have failed to gain traction with lawmakers in the past.The January 2018 deadline is the result of a law passed by Congress in 2005.The Real ID Act imposes tougher requirements for proof of legal U.S. residency in order for state driver’s licenses to be valid for federal purposes. The law was passed in response to national security concerns after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.States originally were supposed to comply …
