Overview of city projects: what’s completed, what’s to come

BRANSON MO NEWS: It seems like the city of Branson has its hands full with a couple multi-million dollar projects happening at once. For community members, it can be difficult to keep track of the progress with the Downtown Streetscape project and the 76 Complete Street project.

Never fear, the Branson Tri-Lakes News has you covered with the latest.

Downtown streetscape project

Construction began over a year ago for phase one of the Downtown Streetscape project and it was completed this past summer. Road and sidewalk improvements were completed to portions of Commercial, College, Atlantic and Pacific streets, which include new bumpouts, light poles, benches and street signs, according to Branson Tri-Lakes News archives.

Currently underway is phase two, Liberty Plaza, that is a reconstruction of the old city hall parking lot, located off Veterans Boulevard and Pacific Street.

The $4 million project involves a new concrete parking lot, a trolley stop, an outdoor stage, a public restroom facility, and a fountain along a stone wall that will have a Branson logo, according to archives. In October, City Engineer David Miller said the project is ahead of schedule and predicted it to be finished by April 2017.
