BRANSON, Missouri — With more than 100 different shows, a dozen museums, go-cart and miniature golf, and a wide variety of other attractions, Branson’s Christmas hustles and bustles.
The Southwestern Missouri town will see an estimated 1.5 million visitors during “Ozark Mountain Christmas,” which runs now through the end of December.
The Christmas season began in 1992 as a way to extend the tourism season, and is now a very popular with holiday visitors, said Lynn Berry, director of communications for the Branson Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“It’s people that come back again and again,” Berry noted.
For the week of Veterans Day, she said 40,000 veterans and their families will hit the town.
Thanksgiving also is very busy in Branson.
“It’s a good spot to meet,” Berry said. “I believe it is because the wide variety of everything we offer pleases everybody in the family.”
Families can all gather in one place, then teenagers can ride go-carts, adults can play miniature golf and grandparents can sit on the porch or by a fire, she explained.
Silver Dollar City is a major attraction. The theme park celebrates its “Old Time Christmas” festival, featuring live performances, light parades, tree-lighting ceremonies and a wide variety of activities.
Branson also is known for its live shows. This year, there will be approximately 140 operating during the Christmas season. Berry said about 20 will be full-Christmas productions, while most of the other shows will add Christmas elements to existing productions.
