BRANSON MO NEWS: Earlier this month, the folks at the Mansion Theatre announced actor, director, producer, entertainer and rock star front man Dennis Quaid, along with his band, the Sharks, would perform in Branson Nov. 4.
Quaid and the Sharks have been bringing their style of “rock ‘n’ roll country soul” music to the masses since 2000, after Quaid was a guest member in the Harry Dean Stanton Band. After that gig, he was approached by one of Stanton’s band members to start up their own group. Quaid, who hadn’t done music in quite some time, agreed to the idea, and soon after, Dennis Quaid and the Sharks were born.
Since then, the band has gone around playing live shows in many L.A. clubs, as well as various other venues across the country. Quaid handles the lead vocals and rhythm guitar, along with fellow band members Jamie James, Tom Slick, Ken Stange, and Tom Walsh.
Last week, Quaid hit Ozark Mountain Country for a few days to help hype the show, which included an interview with Branson Tri-Lakes News Entertainment Writer Joshua Clark, who also happens to be a huge fan of the Quaid catalog.
Joshua Clark: “So, how did this whole ‘Dennis Quaid plays Branson, Missouri’ thing get started?”
Dennis Quaid: “Actually, I think it’s kind of a ‘God’ thing, to tell you the truth. My uncle Tommy lives down in Hubbard, Texas, where my mom was born and my grandfather is buried, and a singer here in Branson named Becky (pauses), whose name escapes me right now, she was in Hubbard for the funeral of her sister and met my uncle in passing.
