SMAC offers The Business of Acting- What You Won’t Learn in Acting Class with Oscar Nominated Actress Shelley Waggener as part of Community Arts Enrichment Series
Branson, MO June 14, 2017 – The Southern Missouri Arts Connection is excited to announce their sixth workshop in the Arts Enrichment Workshop Series. Shelley Waggener will be facilitating The Business of Acting- What You Won’t Learn in Acting Class on Saturday July 15, 2017 from 4:00-6:00PM. The workshop will be held at the Bonniebrook Homestead, US Highway 65, Walnut Shade, MO. It is $25 to attend this event. Ages 14 and up. Parents of younger children who are interested in finding out more about how to further their children’s careers are welcome as well! (We will have something fun to do with your kiddos during the workshop for an additional $5 if you are unable to secure childcare. Please be sure to rsvp age and name of children along with your registration).
This workshop will provide an introduction to acting as a business and will present approaches to becoming a working professional in the entertainment industry. Topics will include pictures, resumes, new technologies, agents, managers, unions, interviewing, auditioning and marketing.
By the end of this workshop you will have a better knowledge of how the industry works and the steps you will need to take to become a working actor. You will learn how to set goals and will learn the tools you need to be a success. A Q & A will be offered at the end of the workshop
Shelley Waggener is an award-winning actress and star of both TV and film, including the Oscar-nominated Winter’s Bone. Shelley grew up in Reeds Spring and graduated from Reeds Spring High school before pursuing a career as an actor. She attended a performing arts school in Phoenix, AZ and moved to Los Angeles where she began her career on TV working on such shows as Boston Public, Mad TV and starring in a Lifetime TV series entitled “What Should You Do?”. She has co-starred with many actors
including Jennifer Lawrence, Adam Sandler, and Burt Reynolds. Shelley currently resides in the Branson area and continues to work in both the national and local markets as an actor and can offer insight to working in all markets.
