Students, teachers and staff in Faulkner County worked to get back into the school routine Monday after spring break.
Mayflower Middle School fifth grader Lauren Koch said she struggled to get to sleep Sunday night, which made it difficult for her to get up Monday morning.
“I had trouble going to sleep because I stayed up late all spring break,” she said. “I went to sleep around 2 and slept for an hour. I finally got back to sleep for good around 4, I think.”
Koch said she and her family visited Branson, Missouri, over the break and watched the play “Moses” among other activities.
“I loved the play,” she said.
Even with limited sleep, the fifth grader said she was enjoying her first day back at school when the Log Cabin Democrat caught up to her in fourth-period English with teacher Hanna Kordsmeier.
“I was glad to see my friends and teachers,” Koch said.
