Taney County State of the Workforce: Employer Survey Results
Taney County, MO – In collaboration with the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, the Taney County Partnership will be revealing the results of the recent “Have Your Say” Employer Survey that was issued to gain information on the current challenges area businesses are facing in recruiting, training, and retaining employees for vacant positions. Responses were received from 101 area employers in and around Taney County.
According to Jonas Arjes, Executive Director of the Taney County Partnership, “A primary concern nationwide in workforce development is the growing skills gap between available jobs and the people looking for work. Site selection consultants and their clients look for quality labor markets when identifying locations for expansions or relocations and we have to be mindful of that. More importantly, we have to be tuned to the needs of our existing businesses to ensure they have access to quality labor to support their businesses and customers.”
One objective of the Taney County Partnership is to collaborate with the Missouri Career Center to analyze workforce development needs in the region, and engage business leaders to evaluate programs that will address those issues. “Currently there are countless job openings that need to be filled among our members and area employers, with eleven hundred in the healthcare industry alone within the region. Training in both soft and technical skills is necessary to ensure a competent workforce for businesses seeking to expand in Taney County and Southwest Missouri,” adds Jeff Seifried, President & CEO of the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB.
The results of the “Have Your Say” Employer Survey will be shared at the upcoming Branson Business Connection luncheon at the Branson Convention Center on Friday, July 24, at 11:30 am. This event is open to the public and registration is required.
A panel discussion will be moderated by the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman, Randy Brashers, President & COO of ITEC Attractions, and panelists include the following Taney County business leaders:
- Bryson Allen – Director of Human Resources, Big Cedar Lodge
- Kris Jones – Corporate Director of Talent Acquisition, CoxHealth
- Kevin McConnell – Owner, Express Employment Professionals
