TIGERS’ D-LINE: NASTY IN THE MIDDLE, BUT . . .

BRANSON MO NEWS: QUESTION: Mizzou’s DTs are going to be nasty this year and should be able to get some inside QB pressure, but do we have the DEs or OLBs to consistently get to the edge and contain SEC running backs? Have heard a lot of concern about the DBs, but if you can’t stop the run, no one is going to bother passing on you.

MATTER: Very true. I want to see how Chris Turner (above left) and Tre Williams develop as starters in this league. There’s upside there, and I think if Odom and Haley can figure out how and when to flex some of those hybrid end-tackles to the edges (Elliott and Byers especially), the staff might be able to mask some of the depth/talent shortage at end. The incoming freshmen are going to have a chance to compete for playing time, too. Don’t count them out. If they’ve got the strength to take on an SEC blocker, they’ll be able to work into a rotation.
