When you own as much land as Isome Sapp, it is nearly impossible to keep an eye on it all.Sapp has some help. More than 100 trail cameras are set up across his farm.Sapp drives out to the camera locations, puts down some corn for the deer, and checks the cameras later.”We usually try to come out at least once a week and put out more mineral, and the mineral will keep them coming for a long time,” said Sapp.On Sunday, Sapp came to check one camera and at first, he thought he had just caught pictures of cattle. He was wrong. It was a black bear.”I couldn’t believe it. It was a bear and I go through hundreds of thousands of pictures every year scouting out deer. Just out of the blue see a bear show up on the ground that we’ve never seen bear nowhere in the area. It was crazy,” Said Sapp.Black bears are common near Branson, Missouri to the west and the Appalachian mountains to the east. Not in between. Sapp says he just can’t seem to wrap his head around this bear.”It’s crazy, like I said it might be the only one I see here in my lifetime. I’m 35-years-old and I might not ever see another bear here,” said Sapp.The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife tells us that the bear likely traveled from east-central Tennessee. They say that it is believed to be the only bear in the area.Although it may have been a stroke of luck, Sapp is grateful to have caught it on camera.”I’m glad to be able to witness God’s creation.
