BRANSON MO NEWS: Dickerson Park Zoo Spokesperson Joey Powell Discusses Veterans Appreciation Day and Celebrate Henry Dickerson Park Zoo will honor veterans tomorrow (11/11) by offering free admission for any service members and veterans and their families. The zoo will also host “Celebrate Henry” Sunday (11/12) at 2 to honor the life of Henry the Hippo who died this month. The Taps Project starts at 11 this morning (11/10) on the Missouri State University campus. Trumpet players will perform Taps in a cascading fashion across the campus. The 135th Army Band will perform at 10:15 in front of McDonald Arena. Run to the Lights is tonight (11/10) at 9 at Silver Dollar City. Proceeds benefit The Caring People, a local charity offering aid and support to single moms across the Midwest. Online registration is closed, but you can still register tonight between 6 and 8:30. The Veterans and Military Coalition of the Ozarks will observe Veteran’s Day today 11/10) at Big Cedar Lodge with speakers, a flag presentation, a wreath laying, color guard, military static displays and more. A reading ceremony will take place today (11/10) until 5 p.m. at the Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial at College of the Ozarks, 100 Opportunity Ave. in Point Lookout, across from the Keeter Center. Names on the memorial will be read by C of O faculty, staff and students. The Legacy Days Vintage Baseball Festival is today through Sunday (11/10-11/12) at BallParks of America and Branson RecPlex in Branson. Teams will compete in period reproduction uniforms and will use authentic equipment and follow 19th century baseball rules to present the history of baseball to the public. Admission is free. Christmas Island is open through December 31 in Rockaway Beach.
