BRANSON MO NEWS: The “All Hands On Deck! Show,” recently named the Most Patriotic Tribute of the Year by the Branson Show Awards, is hosting a fundraiser for Missouri’s only living Medal of Honor Recipient, Col. Don “Doc” Ballard, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Dutton Family Theatre.

According to a release, while Ballard, the owner of Swan Lake Memorial Park in Grain Valley, Missouri, was in Washington, D.C. honoring two Columbia residents last March, his business was burglarized. Cash and items stolen from this American hero is estimated to be worth more than $100,000.

With that in mind, the cast of the “All Hands On Deck! Show” is aiming to help replenish what was taken from Ballard.

Ballard continues to serve this country by providing honorable funeral services to American Veterans who cannot afford their own burial.

“I spent my entire life helping other organizations raise money,” Ballard said. “They know I do it for veterans and scouts, (but) this is the first time in my life I’ve had any need.”

Folks are invited to meet Ballard at the show, and his books will be available during intermission and after the show for “suggested donations.”

The show is “an homage to the days of Bob Hope and war-bond drives, Broadway performers and the 9-piece Hollywood Victory Caravan Orchestra.
