Annual Rotary charity chili cook off set for Feb. 18

BRANSON MO NEWS: Once again, it is time to chow down on some nice, hot chili on a cold February day — and to do it for charity.

The 13th Annual Chili Cook Off, hosted by the Branson Daybreakers Rotary Club, will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Lion’s Club building on E. Missouri 76.

The event is $5, although anyone 12 or younger is admitted free.

“For $5 you can sample all the chilis, and then you can get a bowl to get more of your favorite,” said Rotary spokesman Tony Espey.

There will be 11 entries this year. Five of those are in the service club category, and the other six are in the commercial restaurant category.

Those in the service club category are Branson Daybreakers Rotary, Rotaract Club, Hollister Rotary, Branson/Hollister Rotary, and Veterans & Military Coalition.

Those in the commercial restaurant category include Rib Crib, Bob Evans, Ye Old English Inn, Branson Cafe, Shoney’s and Branson’s Center Stage Grille & Bar.

The chilis will compete against each other in two categories. First, a panel of judges will conduct a blind taste test and will choose a winner in each category. In addition, those in attendance will …
