Branson West Hardee’s sued for sexual harassment of underage employee
BRANSON MO NEWS: A Branson West fast-food restaurant is being sued by a former employee – a minor at the time – who claims to have been sexually harassed by a supervisor.The former female employee of the Hardee’s in Branson West filed a petition in Stone County Court this week against both Hardee’s and against Wyatt-Thomas Robert Cannady, 23, of Cape Fair, for activity that allegedly took place from April 25 to May 1, 2017, when the victim was 16.Cannady is currently charged with second-degree statutory sodomy relating to the sexual harassment accusations against the employee. He is scheduled for a jury trial Oct. 17.
In that case, Cannady is accused of having sex with an underage girl at the Hardee’s on Business 13 in Branson West after the business was closed.According to court documents, Cannady, after being given his Miranda warning, admitted to having sex with the girl in the women’s restroom and admitted to knowing the girl’s age. He told police there was only one incident, according to the documents.According to the petition filed July 9, the victim, a minor, was pressured into having sex with her supervisor. The petition states that when the victim was employed at Hardee’s, Cannady began making sexual advances at her. The petition states Cannady had supervisory authority over the girl.The petition states that sometime in April or May, Cannady engaged in sexual relations with the victim at the restaurant. Afterward, “Cannady continued to make sexual advances toward (the victim) which she did not reciprocate.”The petition also states that the company, listed in the petition as CLM Restaurants LLC, either did know, or should have known about, Cannady’s sexual advances and behavior. It also states CLM “failed to properly supervise or secure its location so that minor employees … were protected from sexual advances …
