The people and community of Branson know this perhaps better than anyone. Tourism drives the local economy, the businesses are dedicated to ensuring people have a good time, but even more, the community itself always welcomes people from all over the country with open arms. Now, this community mourns. It’s been a little over a week since we lost 17 lives at Table Rock Lake. Seventeen lives tragically lost and yet no answers that have and may never give us comfort. I cannot begin to imagine what these families are going through. They have been and will continue to be in my thoughts. One of the most difficult things I have ever had to do was visit with the survivors and family members because it was simply so hard to find any, let alone the right words. Over the weekend, we celebrated my youngest granddaughter’s birthday, and I couldn’t help but notice there were 11 of us in our extended family. My mind and heart instantly went to all the families, including the family of 11 from Indiana who lost nine members. I thought how impossible our own, or any celebration would be with just two of us. I made sure to talk to every single member of my family. I let them know how very much I love them, something I also wondered if I took the time to say enough.CLOSE
