HWC speaker talks of finding God’s purpose

Arriving at the Harrison Women’s Connection’s June meeting, ladies strolled into a room of tables centered with a variety of hats.Chairman Judy Hall opened the meeting with a few amusing thoughts on being a Christian, one being, “The best vitamin for a Christian is B1.”After a meal, door prizes were awarded to Connie Hackman, Linda Morgan, Cindi Hagood and Jeannie King.
Martha Quinn, vice chairman, heralded the attendee’s attention with an illustration of the restoration of houses. She commented that it was amazing when a house in disrepair comes into the right hands, and with a well-thought-out plan, the proper tools and materials, it brings about such a dramatic change.This is a fitting analogy as Stonecroft celebrates its 80th anniversary and has, at last, emerged from its most recent restoration and is ready to continue serving its purpose. With a renewed focus on serving its volunteers, developing resources, inspiring new programs to reach younger women, HWC is ready to engage and train more volunteers and invite more women to experience their own transformation. Stonecroft is ready to keep serving for 80 more years.Quinn announced the local project for HWC this month is to support “Children’s Charity Ministry,” a Christian based charitable organization. During the school year they provide 5,000 meals per month to underprivileged children from schools in eight different counties. For all the schools, they offer and provide hygiene kits, shoes, clothing, and school supplies. Their needs are, Easy Mac, Chef Boyardee, oatmeal, fruit cups, pudding, Vienna Sausage, applesauce, hygiene items and school supplies.Wanna Faye Maddox announced she would be the facilitator for a new Bible study starting at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the home of Doris Pennington, 422 Natchez Trace, Harrison.The Special Feature was a glamorous Style Show presented by a prominent …
