BRANSON MO NEWS: Candidates Forum set for July 19MARYVILLE, Mo. — Maryville Citizens for Community Action and the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce have announced a 2018 Primary Election Candidates Forum. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, in the Courtroom of the Nodaway County Courthouse. The forum coincides with the opening evening activities of the Nodaway County Fair and is free and open to the public. 

Locally, candidates campaigning for presiding commissioner, county clerk, circuit clerk, recorder of deeds, prosecuting attorney and associate circuit judge are invited to participate. Invitations also are extended to federal and state candidates seeking the offices of U.S. senator, state auditor, U.S. representative – District 6, state senator – District 12, state representative District 1, and circuit judge – Circuit 4.Northwest Missouri State University Professor Emeritus, Dave McLaughlin will moderate the forum and present Proposition A ballot language, information on Senate Bill 19, “Right-to-Work.” A question and answer period will follow office presentations.County hazard mitigation plan posted for commentMARYVILLE, Mo. — The Nodaway County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is posted on the Nodaway County and Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments websites for a 30-day public comment period. Any public comments will be incorporated into the plan.The plan was submitted to the State Emergency Management Agency for review at the same time. SEMA will conduct its review and then send the plan to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for review and approval.The participating jurisdictions are in the process of bringing the Hazard Mitigation Plan before their councils for adoption.
