Mizzou lands three-star quarterback from Ohio
BRANSON MO NEWS: Barry Odom landed a much-needed quarterback for Missouri’s 2019 recruiting class on Sunday, getting a verbal commitment from three-star prospect Connor Bazelak from Dayton, Ohio. Bazelak, with offers from 14 other Power 5 conference schools, announced his commitment on Twitter after taking an official visit to Mizzou last weekend.“I want to thank all the coaches that recruited me and gave me a chance to play at the next level,” Bazelak tweeted. “Also, to everyone in my life that has made me a better person and Quarterback. With that being said, I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Missouri!”
Bazelak is the fourth commitment for MU’s 2019 recruiting class and fills a crucial need at quarterback should he stick by his verbal pledge. The earliest Bazelak can sign his national letter of intent is Dec. 19.Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock returns for his senior season this fall after earning first-team All-SEC honors last year, but the Tigers need to replenish the position group with another addition for 2019. Also set to return this year are junior Jack Lowary, sophomores Micah Wilson and Lindsey Scott Jr. and redshirt freshman Taylor Powell. Bazelak, listed at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, is the 18th-ranked pro-style quarterback for 2019 by Rivals.com and rates as No. 20 in the category by 247Sports.com. He also holds offers from SEC schools Georgia, Kentucky and Vanderbilt, along with Iowa, North Carolina, Purdue, West Virginia among others. At Archbishop Alter High School, Bazelak has played in a wishbone-oriented offense and last year threw for 1,097 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.

The Tigers also have 2019 commitments from Lutheran North offensive lineman Jack Buford, Fort Worth, Texas, running back Anthony Watkins and Flushing, Mich., defensive back Aidan Harrison.
