One of Ste. Genevieve’s last regular season tournaments featured several state-ranked teams on Saturday.

Jared Humbolt led the way for the Dragons again, six of his teammates also finished in the top five of their respective weight classes, and Ste. Genevieve took seventh place in the Branson Tournament with 176 points.

Humbolt won all five of his matches in the 145 class as four of those victories came from pins. He finished with a pin against Bentonville’s Zane Sims in under a minute in the championship bout to notch the Dragons’ lone first-place finish. Humbolt was the only wrestler from Ste. Genevieve that made it to the finals in his respective division.

Jacob Dickens made it to the semifinals in the 106 division, but lost by a 6-0 dcision to Neosho’s Cayden Auch. He recovered for an 8-6 decision over Grant Garrett of Camdenton in the third-place match.

Isaac Boyd (285) also reached the semifinals, but was pinned in that match. He recovered in the third-place match with a fall in 3:04 against Marshfield’s Tristen Burton to end his run with a win.

Nathan Geisner started the 113 bracket with a bye and two wins, but was pinned in the semifinals. Due to a medical forfeit he was unable to wrestle in the third-place match as he ended the day in fourth.

Grant Staffen (132) won his first three matches by fall, but dropped the next two by decision as he finished fourth for the Dragons.

Noah Ogden (152) and Tyler Hale (220) both dropped a match in the first rounds of competition, but rallied to win their final match of the day to claim fifth.

Neosho won the tournament with 319 points and was nearly 70 points ahead of runner-up Bentonville, which scored 250.5. Seneca was third in 242.5 points, and Smithville claimed fourth at 209 points. Marshfield and Monett finished ahead of …
