Teammates, coaches believe Hall is equipped to shed deep-threat-only narrative

BRANSON MO NEWS: During a practice in early April, Emanuel Hall walked up to the line of scrimmage and extended his left arm toward the referee to ensure he was onside. Once set, he peered straight ahead at senior defensive back Cam Hilton, his cover man, and waited for the signal from Drew Lock.The moment the ball was snapped, Hall took off. Three steps in, he’d already torched Hilton and was streaking down the left side of the field. Without a single soul within 15 yards of Missouri’s senior wideout, Lock uncorked a deep ball and hit Hall in stride down the field.As he crossed the goal line for a meaningless 50-yard practice touchdown reception, Hall threw his arms up in the air while teammates on the offensive sideline erupted in cheers. They’ve seen Hall pull off catches like that one over and over; those deep-ball touchdowns made the Franklin, Tennessee, product a breakout star for the Tigers during the 2017 season and have continued to define him ahead of his final fall in Columbia.

But with the focus this spring on Hall filling the void left by J’Mon Moore as the main target in Missouri’s receiving corps, other plays have come to define him as he’s grown into a more complete wideout.The intermediate routes: the slants, the curls, the breaks over the middle; all of the routes in the playbook that require precise route running and catching ability, which Hall supposedly hasn’t had in the past.
