‘Time’ for new era at SDC

BRANSON MO NEWS: After more than two years in development, and dominating headlines for the past six months, Silver Dollar City debuted its newest attraction, the record-breaking, $26 million roller coaster known as Time Traveler.“Ever since Silver Dollar City opened on May 1, 1960, for 58 years, people have traveled back in time as they ventured into the park,” said President of Silver Dollar City Attractions Brad Thomas. “That is our passion, to create memories worth repeating, so that our visitors can escape the cares of today as they travel back to a simpler time … but this is a first of its kind, thanks to Christian von Elverfeldt and the great folks at Mack Rides, which is a family-owned company that is 200 years old. “They have created a ride that will take you on a journey you can only have at Silver Dollar City, in Branson, Missouri. You won’t find it on any other continent on this planet, or any other planet.”

Time Traveler is billed as the world’s fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning roller coaster, which delivers ride experiences unlike any before with no two rides alike. The major difference between this and other coasters is the spin, which is not a teacup-ride fast spin, but a 360-degree controlled spin that delivers high dimension, sensations and perspectives that differ with every car, every ride, every time.“That means there is a control to the spin,” Thomas said. “So that means the car doesn’t spin rapidly in circles, it spins in a controlled format.”Time Traveler reaches speeds of 50 miles per hour and stands at 100 feet tall, making full use of the Ozark Mountains terrain.
